Synopsis

In 1979, there was a double homicide in Kansas City, Missouri. To date, the murders have never been solved. Saving Nikki is the story of how a young girl fell in love with one of the victims and didn't know until it was too late what she had gotten herself into. The relationship was one of abuse and abandonment, and after he was killed, I felt the story needed to be told. Saving Nikki is suitable for teens because it teaches a very important principle: You can choose your actions, but you can't choose your consequences. It's also a favorite with women because most of us can relate to at least one aspect of the story. We've either been the girl who fell for the wrong guy, or we're the friend who was there to save her. Maybe we're even the parent of a child who's headed in the wrong direction. The book not only shows how important it is to give guidance to our own children, but allows us to go back and think about the choices we've made and how those choices have affected us. Some of those choices affect us for a lifetime and beyond.
