This is a story of hope. At fifteen, Nikki's already had to deal with alcoholic parents, divorce, neglect, abandonment and betrayal. She doesn't think it can get much worse than that, but unfortunately it does. This is written about a young adult who happens to be ME, the author, but it strikes a chord with many adult women who have lived through some of the same circumstances.
Author
Joyce grew up in Independence, Missouri and graduated from Van Horn High School. She obtained her AA from Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas and attended the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Married in 1969, she followed her husband to Minnesota, Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas and Houston, Texas. Joyce and Eddie are the parents of three children and nine grandchildren. Joyce is the family historian and an avid journal keeper. When listening to others tell a story, you may hear her say, “You need to write that down.” She has a firm testimony of how putting your thoughts on paper can help you see things more clearly.
She’s a “lover of words,” and believes they do more than plant miracle seeds. They have the ability to change the world. Joyce is a freelance writer and contributor to the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. She’s the creator of All They’ll Need to Know, a very concise workbook that helps guide you through the process of recording personal and financial information that will be helpful to loved ones in your absence.
Saving Nikki is Joyce’s first novel. She’s a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently lives in the Houston, Texas area.
